Developed to meet perceived requirement for ultra long-range business jet and announced at the NBAA convention in October 1991. Combines fuselage cross-section of Challenger with cabin length of CRJ, mated to a new superficial wing. First flown on 13 October 1996, followed by initial delivery on 8 July 1999. Total delivered: 70+.
